March is Women’s History Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and honoring the impact women have in all facets of life. In the workplace, women have made countless contributions and strides toward equality. The fight continues for equal pay, opportunities, and a balance between responsibilities. This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity, which you can participate in by celebrating today’s International Women’s Day, and every day this month!
1. Community Support
Celebrate the women around you! Host a networking event bringing female colleagues together. Organize an informal coffee chat around current challenges women face professionally. Or, if time allows, plan a luncheon highlighting women who have made a difference in your field or community. Make a point to feature women from your workplace or industry in newsletters, Slack channels, or on social media.
2. Women-Owned
Find ways that you can support women-owned businesses this month, and beyond! Whether you cater lunch one week from a women-owned restaurant or buy holiday gifts from a female-led store, there are countless opportunities to incorporate these businesses into purchases that you already make.
3. Assess Policies
Think of how your workplace can make more equitable policies. Provide accommodations for working mothers and ensure an appropriate level of flexibility is offered. Review health care benefits to make sure women have adequate access to necessary services. And most importantly, involve all parties in important decisions!
4. Celebrate
What is a celebration without some fun? This month, host a party honoring the women in your workplace. Attend a Women’s History Month event in the city, do an activity at a women-owned business, or host a themed happy hour. Poll the community about how they’d like to celebrate themselves and create a fun and festive environment to recognize this important month!

5. Continuing Education
Women’s History Month is a great time to focus on continued learning. Attend a lecture, read books from female authors, immerse yourself in conversations around women’s issues, and participate in empowerment events, such as financial literacy.
As stated on the International Women’s Day website, #EmbraceEquity means all forms of IWD and Women’s History Month activity are valid. No matter how you choose to celebrate and honor women in your life and the workplace, we are making strides toward a more equitable society.
